After much reading and frustration i wanted to post this consolidated tip.
Network: 6 PC's on XP Pro.
I reinstalled all PC's in the network (they were due and running bad). Once reinstalled, I wanted to manage the whole Workgroup with Hyena. All I could get for a day and a half was ACCESS DENIED on every remote PC's resources.
When installing Hyena to manage a WORKGROUP, please do the following.
On the client PC's change the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Lsa
ForceGuest=0
The default is 1. This will change the shares in XP to be set more like you would in W2K.
Official Read: http://support.microsoft.com/default...;EN-US;q290403
Once the registry change is made, reboot both the client and the admin PC that is running Hyena.
Should be all she wrote!
Thank you kstanush for your post 1-23-04 which led to this knowledge.
