  • Minimum Requirments.

I would like to know what is the minimum that is required to allow Exporter pro to run against a machine.

What services does the scanned machine must have?

What permissions does the person who is running exporter pro from remote must have?

too many "Access Denied" messages are simply "blamed" on Exporter pro, and it looses credibility as a good working tool.

    I would appreciate your help.

    Re: Minimum Requirments.

Typically you would need File and Printer Sharing, the RPC service, and if you are retrieving properties and such you would need Remote Registry service running.

As far as your "access denied" messages, this means you don't have sufficient permissions to retrieve whatever data you are looking for. Unfortunately there are too many different functions being used to say what the "minimum" is. Most functions I would assume would require Server Operator permissions, and some may require local Admin permissions.

Thanks. I would like to know if there are other services that if enabled/disabled would cause Exporter Pro not to work. This will allow for a more smooth troubleshooting, and will allow us all to deploy exporter pro as a defacto standard audit tool.

      Thanks

        Re: Minimum Requirments.

There isn't any way to answer this question as there are literally dozens of pieces of a Windows system that can be configured to cause a remote operation to fail. To have the least amount of problems, any account should be a member of the local administrators group on the computer.
