These are stored in a text file called ad_objects.dat located in:

    c:\documents and settings\<username>\application data\systemtools\hyena

If you still have the original file (you can verify this by opening it with Notepad and searching for some of the entries you know of) you can copy that to the above directory to restore it.

I added a bunch of groupings to house severs and computers in untrusted locations, and had other groupings that housed links to directories, websites, tools, etc...

These have been compiled over a period of several years, and is going to be a real pain to get back.

    Braunyaur,

What settings are you referring to? What customization did you do?

I followed the fix, but now all of my custom settings for the left pane have disappeard. Even importing the old reg files and copying the flat files back into the directory have not restored anything.

What file or reg key(s) hold these settings and how can I get them back?

If you still have it, send the .txt file that you saved to [email protected]. The reason that we asked that it be saved is that we could then look to see what setting is causing this. It is probably a value that we use to restore the window size or position or something dumb like that.

never mind. I browsed the forums a bit and did this and it worked:

Try going into regedt32, and navigate to Hkey_current_user\software\adkins resource\hyena.
Select the 'Hyena' key in the left window, then select File->Export, and set the Save As Type to .txt, and save the resulting key to a file. Then, delete the "Customize" and "Win32" subkeys under the Hyena key. After that, try running Hyena.

    Any ideas?
