  • Can I use Hyena with workgroups only?

Just wondering if I can use Hyena on a mixed network. There is no Windows server just some XP machines that I would like to manage.
What do I need to do to these machines in order to connect to them from Hyena(v6). I can see all of the workgroups and computer but get access denied messages if I try to Logo As.. I am assuming that I need to enter the workgroup name as the domain controller and then the user name that has admin access - am I on the track.

In a workgroup setting there is no central location for user information. So, when you use the Logon As you'll need to specify the computer name you are connecting to in the Domain or Server Name box.

One thing you might want to experiment with, assuming all these computers have the same admin account with the same password, would be to logon to your computer using an account with the same username and password as is used on those computers. Windows should use that to authenticate you so you won't have to use the Logon As each time.

      Thanks for the prompt reply.
The accounts are the same so it should be OK but even with the administrator account it still indicates access denied - do I need file sharing to be turned on on the Win XP machines I want to manage? If so at which level eg c:\ or elsewhere.

You will need File and Printer Sharing installed, and some functions will require that the Remote Registry service is running.
