I am also having trouble, I have turned on file and print sharing on the clients firewall. I still would like to use the firwall and only turn on the ports required by hyena

Hyena will see the shares but is locked out of registry and processes. Is there a port that needs to be turned on

File and Print Sharing should be all you need for pretty much everything except WMI. Make sure you have the Remote Registry service running. If you do, temporarily stop the Firewall and make sure you can get to it without it running.

shogev, what problems are you having? Do you have File and Printer Sharing opened in Windows Firewall on these workstations?

                Question

If you have file and print sharing turned on, does that not defeat the purpose of having the firewall turned on, to begin with. Does that not just open open the door completly to the pc for these worms and hackers ? Is there not a specific port that Hyena would use ?

                  Re: XP Service Pack 2

I just had to do this here. If you go into the Windows Firewall, go to the Exceptions tab, check File & Print Sharing, then hit Edit.

This shows the ports which will be opened up but also shows a button labelled Change Scope.

Click on this and it shows that this will be enabled for the local subnet only.
