  • RPC or "Unable to connect to Registry" errors on Windows 7 systems only

Only happens when using Hyena to view information for Windows 7 desktops that we have added to our domain. XP desktops can be accessed without problems. When I try to open Printers I get the RPC error. When trying to open Event Viewer, Performance sub groups, Registry, or "View logged on users" I get the "Unable to connect to Registry" error. We have 3 people using Hyena, all are Domain Admins, and all have the same issue.

    Any ideas what I'm missing?

    Thanks, Steve

Verify that the Remote Registry service is running on the Windows 7 computers.

Thanks cmccullough!!! I knew it had to be something easy, and that fixed it.

This is the default behavior for Windows 7 clients. Your best bet is to make a change to the default domain policy and set the remote registry service to automatic. Other wise you have to start it every time you want to run against it.
