  • Restoring Deleting Objects

    Hi,
I just want to know if it is possible to restore deleted objects with all of its attributes thru' Hyena?? I can easily do a restore but it seems to only bring back an 'empty' object i.e. Groups membership etc are missing.
    Is this possible??
    Tks.

    Re: Restoring Deleting Objects

Unfortunately when objects are deleted in AD, many of the attributes are permanently deleted and can't be restored.

There's more information on this in Hyena's help section under Undeleting Directory Objects.

Kb840001 “How to restore deleted user accounts and their group membership in Active Directory.

Note that items deleted post tombstone are gone. Just as a system state backup in no good post tombstone.

2008 r2 has the ability to mount a backup and browse it just like your normal dsa.msc. You can't make changes but you can see everything.

Correction on deleted object lifetime is twice the tombstone days set.
