  • 2008 rpc server is unavailable

Maybe I am being dense, but I can't figure out why hyena 7.7 won't display the servers in a 2008 domain under "Servers". I can see them under computers, but when I try to access the services on any of the machines, I get: "Unable to access service information. RPC server is unavailable."

    Thanks for any assistance.

RPC errors are typically communication errors. It can be caused by the Windows Firewall blocking you, or could be resolution errors. One quick test would be to go to Tools-Settings-Active Directory and check the box to Use DNS computer paths.

I tried flipping that and still get the same issue.
I am running hyena on the DC and still not showing the servers. Wouldn't you think that would not be an issue?

No, the Servers folder is built from your Windows Browse List. That is just indicating a browsing issue, such as the Computer Browser service not running, etc. Make sure the server you are trying to get to doesn't have the Windows Firewall on.
