  • Windows 2008 and Hyena 7.7 - Access Denied

Since updating one of my workstations to Win2K8 server I've been unable to manage clients in Hyena 7.7. Regardless of what my permissions are on the client, I get "Access Denied", even for servers where I'm a domain admin and local admin. I don't have this problem from my XP workstation or from Explorer in my Win2k8 server, just with Hyena.

Sometimes, just often enough to frustrate the heck out of me, it will work to show me shares or local users. There seems to be no problem displaying AD objects, just with local objects.

Turning off my local firewall doesn't help.

Go to File->Manage Object View and click on your domain on the Objects tab. What is set for Type at the bottom?

      Windows 2000/2003 Domain.

Something else I forgot to mention is that I'm using shared Hyena configuration files between the XP and Win2008 computers. LOVE that feature.

I'm sorry, I read your first post incorrectly and thought you were having trouble with AD data. On a computer that you are having trouble managing, right-click on the computer and choose Logon As. Enter in a local account for that computer and click OK. Do you get any errors, and/or are you able to manage the computer after that?

I've tried that before with little success. It allows me to see users, local groups and get performance stats, but nothing else. Services, shares, events, etc., just return beeps. On the Computer Properties window, the General, Hotfix, Software, System, and Environment tabs all display the expected information, but the Network tab shows up as mostly blank.

Go ahead and email me some information to [email protected]:

What OS and OS version Hyena is installed on
What OS and OS version you are viewing
A screenshot of File->Manage Object View->Objects so I can see how you have it configured

Anything else that might be relevant.
