  • Monitoring Vista PCs

When I monitor Vista from Hyena, I can see and control the drives, shares, services. If I try to do anything under WMI, I get an error that RPC is not available.

If I click anything under Performance or Registry, I get 'network path not found'.

I know Vista got all kinds of extra security 'features', but I'm not sure how to proceed.

It's Vista Business SP 1, and I'm on XP Pro Sp 3, Hyena 7.1.

Make sure the Remote Registry service is running.

Thanks. That solved everything except WMI routines. Still says the RPC server is unavailable.

It was running, but I had to start RPC Locator. But that didn't help.

Is the Windows Firewall running on the computer you are looking at?

It was on, but WMI wasn't. All set now.

Thanks for the usual quick replies.
