Description Attribute bulk change

I have a large number (hundreds) of Global Security groups and each has a unique description attribute that includes the name of the owner of the data. I am trying to find a way to modify just the portion of the description to change the owners name but not the rest of the the field. With staff changes, I need to be able to update the description and really don't want to change hundreds of descriptions one at a time.
