  • Printing test prints to multiple printers

    Hello!

Is it somehow possible to do a test print to multiple printers on a print server?

We're trying to remove all "dead" printers on our print servers so we would like to do a test print on every server and see if it prints or not.

Hyena would not be able to do that one for you.

If you have the Enterprise Edition, you might be able to use WMI to do this. If you display the instances of the Win32_Printer class for any server, you can get a list of printers in the right window, then multi-select them, select Execute Method, and then select the Print Test Page method.

If your printers are scattered out across multiple servers, you can also use WMI to get to them, but let me know if the single-server method above will work for you.

It works - thank you so much! Hyena is always my rescuer!

However, 1 of my 6 print servers doesn't show all the printers. It only finds 15 printers out of 304 printers.

The strange thing is that it's the "last" 15 printers on the print servers. By that I mean the last 15 by name.

You wouldn't happen to know how this could be?

See if modifying the registry settings listed in these posts will help this issue as well:

OK, I will try to look into it. However, the strange thing is that some of the other print servers have more printers than the ome where I can only see 15 printers.

Would it be possible to get the WMI string that Hyena uses to get the printer information? I would like to show it to Microsoft.

Hyena does not use WMI to retrieve any information that you see in its GUI (except for the WMI class objects themselves). Printer information is retrieved using the Microsoft EnumPrinters API function:

The problem was a bad printer driver. After deleting that I could enumerate all the printers.
