  • Hyena Directory Name vs AD Name

We use Hyena with templates to create new users in our domain. I have noticed that when we create a user, Hyena requires us to fill in the directory name field. No worries there. The problem occurs with AD. After we create the user in Hyena, if I were to look for that user in AD, AD shows the users name as the value of Hyena's directory name. This cause AD to get ugly. Some users are showing the Name in AD properly as (LastName FirstName) but other show it as the value Hyena uses for directory name which in the same as the user account login name. I have tried to use the manage attributes to change it, but I get the following error: "The directory service cannot perform the requested operation on the RDN attribut of an object." Is there anyway to fix this so in AD everything appears the same? I have come to the conclusion the Hyena uses the directory name to make the file share which is the name we want to use for the share, but we want the "Name" field in the AD window to show the value of Hyena's "Display Name" field. Does this make sense??

Send a couple of screen shots showing what you see in Hyena and what you would like to see using ADU&C to [email protected].
