Re: How to import servers and Object groups from text file
You can't run an AD query against a list of computers because there isn't any meanful way to associate these entries with the AD directory entries for them.
The only way to run an AD query is to run it against and AD domain or OU (or individual AD object). You would have to run an AD query on all computers or an OU that these computers might be in and then filter them out after the query is run.

Re: How to import servers and Object groups from text file
I have a customer who uses Hyena v7 and has imported a list of workstations from 4 different domains, having created a .dat file and that all worked fine.
Is there anyway for me to run an A/D Query against the newly created list?
I need to run a command which will check the 'passwordage' attribute of all the workstations in this list.
Thanks!

I tested this just now and it worked fine. Email your file and details on what exactly you are doing to [email protected] and we'll take a look.

Re: How to import servers and Object groups from text file
Thanks. Yes, I came across this posting before and tried it but nothing happened. Just in case I missed something I created a new file with this format and when I attempted to import it nothing happened. The new group was not created and there were no servers.

The qstation.dat file will look like:
Server1 Machines
Server2 Machines
Server3 Machines
There are 2 tabs between those.
When you import that you will end up with a group called Machines with 3 servers in it.

How to import servers and Object groups from text file
I am currently using Hyena 6.5 and need to create many 'Object Groups' with different lists of servers from our AD of several thousand servers. I have Excel files with the servers organized in the manner which I would like to view them in Hyena to manage them more efficiently.
I have reviewed the other postings concerning the 'qstation.dat' or 'ad_objects.dat' files and methods of importing data, but they have not worked.
I have tried using the 'qstation.dat' file with a list of servers only, but when I click on the 'Import Computer List' button and select the file nothing happens. I have also tried the file with the format of 'servername groupname' and that did not work.
Does anyone know the exact details on how to import servers and object groupings?
Does anyone know the exact format the entries must be in for 'qstation.dat' file?
I used to have an old copy of a 'qstation.dat' file but I cannot locate it to view the format.
I do not want to have to manually create object groups and each server which will correspond to each group.
Any help is greatly appreciated.Tags: None
