  • User setting - Account Options

I want to enable this option for multiple user accounts withing the account options area "smart card is required for interactive logon"

I can't seem to find how to enable seeing the other options that you normally would see under Active Directory.

I don't have a way to set this for multiple users at once. Individually you can go to a user's properties, then go to the Security tab and you'll see the checkbox for it there.

Typically you can use the Manage Directory Attributes option to change AD data for multiple users, but that particular setting is a flag that is part of useraccountcontrol, which can't be modified this way.

If you have Windows Server 2003 installed somewhere, ADU&C on 2003 allows you to do this.

You are da MAN!! Thanks...I'm sure there has to be a way to do this with Hyena. I swear by this product and I don't want to move away from it and it's hard for me to tell someone this product can't do it..even if it can't I still will not admit it..lol..

Re: User setting - Account Options

You can do this with Hyena as long as you are very careful. The AD attribute is named 'useraccountcontrol', which is a bitmapped number. If you change an AD view to see this value, and then verify which ones are the same, modify one of the users, and look at the new value, you can then see what the value should be with it set for the other users that had the same previous value.

Some users might have other flags set so their values will be different, but there are not usually that many combinations.

Once you have the numeric value for all of the account settings that you need, you can modify all of the users at the same time THAT HAVE THE SAME COMBINATION OF FLAGS using the Manage Directory Attributes function. This goes for any AD attribute.

Now that doesn't sound Hyena friendly..Maybe something for the beta release to incorporate. Thanks again for your help..
