computers and their logon activity

i know how to view logged on users per machine and how to get that information into excel, but how do i get log off times as well... i am at a school where machines are logged into multiple times throughout the day... when viewing logged on users i'm noticing that on most machines there has been only a single log on... my question: is the logged on user query keeping historical data, and if so, for how long...

Windows stores only the last time the user logged on. For tracking logon/logoff information you'll probably have to end up searching through the log files on each computer for those events, or see if you can come up with another method.
