  • Using Hyena as a Power User

Does anyone know if using Hyena as a Power User will allow you to view information such as User Rights and Adminstrative Shares? For example, currently, If I select User Rights, I receive an error message "Unable to open rights policy registry for DC1."

The problem I'm having is that I don't have administrative access on our network so I'm extremely limited in what I can get out of Hyena. Our network group may be agreeable to making me a member of a Power User group but I want to know if that will solve my problem before formally making the request.

No, Power User rights on your machine is fine, but you must have higher rights in AD/Servers in order to access the areas your talking about. Hyena was designed around admin's. There will be things you can view but it all depends on how they have you configured in active directory or the servers your trying to access.

I already belong to the Administrators group on my own machine but as you said, it's the AD/Server level access that's preventing me from getting to the information I need. If Power User access won't do it, I'll have to lobby for temporary admin access.

      Thanks.

Are you part of the account operators group? That security group will give you most of what you need in AD. You could try backup operators on the member servers. That security group is suppose to be able to look at allot of things but not able to change. It may or may not work, just a thought on my part.

I'm not a member of any of those groups but I'll certainly run it by our network group and see if they'll allow it.
