  • Problem accessing 2 domains

I'm trying to access our secondary domain (through Hyena) but it's not working as I'm getting access denied.

When I open Hyena it's with my "normal" user on our "normal" domain - like myuser\domain1. I then try to access a computer on our other domain where I also have a user account with the same ID - like myuser\domain2.

When I look at the local administrator usergroup at a computer in the domain2 I can see my account is there so shouldn't it be working?

It should work with this setup, but Hyena doesn't control this, Windows does. One thing to try would be to right-click on the computer and choose Logon As. Enter in credentials that have sufficient permissions and see if you are able to manage it that way.

Yes, that works! Is it possible to do that for the whole domain?

In general, Windows only allows you to authenticate once, either when you logon, or when you run an application and you supply another set of credentials, ie RunAs or through the shortcut.

Assuming this is an AD domain, there isn't any method to 'logon' to an AD domain in Windows through an application. Hyena v6.7 contains a new feature to supply a set of credentials (username/password) for an AD domain, and Hyena will use this supplied username/password when any AD object is accessed. But if you want to manage a bunch of computers in the domain, you have to Logon As to each of them, as the AD authentication does not follow through to them.

Another method is to use the Manage Passwords option that is available on Windows XP Control Panel->Users->Advanced, Manage Passwords. I hear this works, but have not verified it it allows workstation management.

OK, now I've tried the different things suggested but can't make it work. But thank you for the help provided!
