  • Migrate Local Group between 2 servers

I want to migrate a server to another server in the same domain. NOS is Win2003.

    Info on Security:
    - Shares use Local Groups
    - Global Groups are in Local Groups

Heres what I've done so far:
    - I used Robocopy with /MIR /COPYALL option
    - I used Hyena to Copy Shares
    - I Used Hyena to Copy Local Groups

How Do I migrate the SIDs of the Local Group from ServerA to ServerB.

    Thanks in advance
    AJ

Check out secure copy, I think it may be able to perform the actions you require.

Re: Migrate Local Group between 2 servers

There isn't any way to migrate the SIDs on the original computer local groups, as they are built using the original server's computer SID. Since your security is based on these local groups, there isn't any way to copy it from one computer to another.

What has to be done is the security information has to be rebuilt for each file or directory. You can do this with a script (cacls or xcacls), or a product like Trammel indicated: SecureCopy from ScriptLogic.com.
