  • Grayed out Workstations

I have an NT domain and workstations with the following OS: NT, 2000, XP.

Most of the workstations in the "Computers" view are grayed out. Some computers I can access and some computers I can't.

How can I find out which computers are active and whic ones are inactive.

    Thanks
    AJ

    Re: Grayed out Workstations

Hyena determines which computers get a blue or gray icon from your Windows Browse List. It sounds like you aren't getting a complete browse list from some reason.

Are you trying to clean up dead computer accounts?

      Re: Grayed out Workstations

I am trying to clean out computer accounts to prepare for our AD migration.

I think the trust between the workstation and the DC was broken. Is there a way to re-establish the trust without removing and re-adding the workstation ?

      Thanks

ALternatively if you wanted to know what systems were up vs. down you could enable ping support. tools/settings/view select enable ping support and make sure in the ping options tab you change the TTL to like 3 seconds otherwise it will sit and wait to timeout on each workstation for like 30 sec, which I believe is the default. hope this helps.
