create a list of users members of a particular group

hello all,

new to Hyena and trying to find my way around. I created a new query from File->Manage Object View... ->AD Queries and one of the fields is GroupMembership. When I apply a filter and enter the name of a group I see only 32 objects and I know that that group contains more than that.

Is there any way I can create a list of users that belong to a particular security group and then modify a property, let's say Terminal Services profile path for the whole list?

The easiest way would be to expand the group in the left window, then double-click on the Members object. This will display the members in the right window, where you can select them. Then right-click and choose Properties and make the changes you want. When you click OK that change will be applied to the selected users.

i tried that already but i cannot customize the view, i.e. i only see the columns cn, display name, description, class, pre-w2k name

how do i add more columns?

You can't customize those columns, but you can select the users in the right window, then right-click and choose Tabular Views. There you will see additional queries, and you can further modify them using the Active Directory User Query Type.

one thing for your refernce, though

If I select a number of objects in that list and some of the selected objects' class is not "user" but let's say "contact", right-click doesn't work ???

so i had to sort by class first and then select only the "user" objects

The lack of right click functionality when you have different types of objects selected is by design. The menus are specific to each type of object, so there isn't anything to display. We may change this in the future to let you do non-object-specific things like delete, move, and maybe even run AD queries, but most of the functions, including queries, are object-specific, so any menu would be very basic.

sorry to bug you again

i realized that in that list some user objects are listed twice or more

does that show some sort of an issue or is there an explanation?

i am trying to answer as many questions as possible before I start actually testing and changing proprties

I think I figured it out

They are listed twice because I selected View Group
Members->View Direct and Indirect Members
