Although a specific server isn't member of our AD 2000 domain anymore and hasn't any entries in dns and wins I can see it in the server list. When I try to delete the entry, I get error message "servername$ can not be deleted. Username was not found."

If by seeing it in the server list, you mean the Servers object that is listed under your domain, this list is generated from the Windows browse list, so anything listed there would be on the network, or if that is not possible, then its being placed in your browse list by another computer (browse master, backup browser, etc.).
Let us know where you are seeing this server listed. Or try rebooting the computer that is most likely your browse master (probably your PDC).Kevin Stanush

Thanks for your answer, it's the server list from the windows browsing list. I will reboot our PDC to see what happens then.Comment
