  • Replace groups

    Hi,

At my enviroment I have local groups associated with the folder. My domain groups are member of this local groups. What I need to do is put the domain group direct into membership of the folder. I want to remove the local groups and only keep the domain groups. But if I delete the local group i will loose the membership from the domain group. Hope I made things clear.

    Thanks,

    Mr.

Hyena wouldn't do that one for you. You'll probably have to find a scripting solution to handle that task.

Not true, this setup is the old NT4 days of security. I take it this is on the server or are you talking about workstations? Simple replace those permissions on the folders with your global groups. Your machine will not loose its domain permission. As your computer allows you to move around based on your rights not machine rights. Unless you have some heavily modified domain workstations. How many machines are you talking about?

        Re: Replace groups

        Tramel,

Let try to explain a little better. I have my file server. On this server I have 50 local groups. My global groups are member of this local groups. The groups (local and global) have the same name. The folders on this server where assigned permission to the local groups. What I need to do is substitute the permission of the local group by the global group. If delete the local groups the users won't be able to acess anything because they are member of the global group!!!
