  • Export local group memberships

I have a list of 100 or so network accounts that I need to provide a listing of their group memberships. All group memberships are required including global and local groups on various servers/workstations. Is there a way to export without going to each server and exporting the local group membership?

    Re: Export local group memberships

Using the Exporter Pro you can export group memberships for global and local groups against all computers in your domain. You should be able to then join that in an Access database to the list of users that you have, and use that to produce a report.

Thanks. How do I set up the dat file to only have the servers in the environment, not the workstations? I have tried using the dat file that came with Hyena to make my own for just servers, but still workstations get reported.

Exporter Pro has a Set Filter option under Configuration->Export Properties on the General tab that allows you to specify computer types.

Found this filter, however, even though I have ask for servers (all servers) and no workstations checked on, workstations are still being listed.

At the top of the General tab is an option called Domain Computer Retrieval Method. If you select the Windows Browse List option, it will get the list of computers directly from the Browse List and query only those.

The other option may be more accurate in some environments because it will query each computer to find out the type. If you have this option selected you will see all computer types showing up in the right window as it is running, but only those that match the Filter criteria will show up in the output file.

Don't set the filter 'function' type, but leave those blank, and set the types based on Computer Type. In your case, you probably want domain controllers and NT Servers.

Selecting the Server function type will get most workstations, as Microsoft considers these servers too if you are running file and print services or other 'server' services.
