  • Multiple profiles on Windows 2000 SP3

We have multiple users that log into certain pcs that need Hyena 6.2 B. Problem is that when we arent sitting at our normal desk, our configuration is not set per PC, but rather by Profile. Is there a way to create a reg patch or a simple process to allow the config to follow us wherever we sit?

Depending on the settings you are looking for, you can do a couple of things to get what you need.

If you are referring to Object Manager settings such as Queries, domains, object groupings, etc, you can copy the *.dat files from your profile directory to the shared location where you are running Hyena from. When you run Hyena for the first time on a computer it will copy those default files to the local profile and use them from there.

If you need home directory templates and settings under Tools->Settings, you'll need to use the Shared Settings file by specifying the path to it on a shared location. When you open Hyena for the first time on a computer you'll have to manually enter in that path, though.

Try this and let me know, First you obviously need admin right's to the box. Log on the machine and setup Hyena as you want it. Then log off and log on as a 3rd admin profile. Now with all hidden files and folders showing in the profile. Go into Documents and Setting's, delete the default user profile. Then rename your profile (the one you did all the work with) to Default User or different if 2000 uses a different name. ( I am using XP). Now once you do that you should only have the new;ey created default user profile and the 3rd profile that your using. Log off the machine and log back on as you. When it creates the new user profile it should create everything with the setting's. I haven't tried this but it should work.
