  • Open Files reports "0" even though files are open

This isn't a Hyena problem--since Shared Folders & NET FILES commands also show 0 files open... but anyone have any ideas what might cause this? It worked great for years, but seems to have stopped reporting open files in just the last couple days. Any ideas on how to get it to start reporting open files again?

If you are using Hyena v6.2, make sure that you are using Hyena v6.2 'B' or later as we did have a bug with the Open By... function.

The only thing that I know that causes this to appear is someone has to access the file through a share, and it has to be really 'open' by an application. Microsoft Word is easy to test this as it creates temporary files, etc. when you open something.

Ya, it is one of our main file servers, so there are thousands of files open on the share. It had been working fine up until this week... using Computer Management or NET FILES shows 0 files open too... so it's not Hyena specific. There are definitely thousands of files open.. it just isnt reporting them.

Have you rebooted the server ?

Rebooting the server did fix the problem.. it's just a fairly important server, so scheduling a reboot was challenging. Very weird. I imagine something went wrong with the SERVER service.. but nothing in the event log to indicate that.
