  • Exporting IE version

How do I export the version of Internet Explorer? That is, I would like to export the information displayed on the General Properties page, but for multiple computers.
For example, 'Windows v5.0; Service Pack 4; 2195; IE v6.0.2800.1106'

    Re: Exporting IE version

It doesn't appear to be in any of the default queries or exports, so you'll have to see if you can find it either in the registry or WMI, then create an export for it.

      Re: Exporting IE version

Create a new Registry Export Template called "Internet Explorer version", and then specify the following registry key path and registry value names in the template properties:

      HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer

      %OBJECT_PATH%
      Version

I created a new registry export template, used this in the properties:

        HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer

        %OBJECT_PATH%
        Version

But all I get in the report is:
        object_path version
        (See screenshot)
        Whats up with this?

I created a template with those values and it worked fine for me. Give us more information on what steps you are taking to run it, are there any errors in the Export Progress Messages window in Exporter Pro, etc.

I run it by opening hyena, selecting the computer. Then click tools, exporter pro, export from selected objects. Export from selected objects box pops up and I click start export. There are no errors listed in the progress msg window (screenshot). Im also attaching a screenshot of the template properties.ProgressMsgs.jpgTemplateProperties.jpg

Ive tried all three options under 'Key Export Options', and tried checking and unchecking 'enable 64bit...' as well. Dont know if it makes a difference, but Im running Hyena/exporter FROM a XP32bit machine. And the machines Im trying to pull the reports from are W7-64bit machines. Does that matter?

Go back to your template and double-click on your Registry Key Path, then choose the first option under Key Export Options: "Only export values from key (no sub-keys)"

I just realized you have a typo in your path for Microsoft.

Ok, I tried again using 'only export values from key...'. And I tried it with and without 'enable 64bit registry...' . Still same results.

No problem at all, that's what we are here for. Let us know if you run into anything else.
