Event Filtering

For some odd reason, when I pull up the Filter for Event viewer, the "Description contains this phrase" box is greyed out. And this is the area I wish to search the events by. Is there any way to enable this, or am I missing something simple?

By default (for performance reasons) the Description field is not displayed in the right window when viewing events. To enable this go to Tools->Settings->Display, change the Display Mode to Events, then add Description.
