  • Getting NTFS permissions for all shares

We use NTFS permissions instead of share permissions on all of our FIle servers and now that my company has been sold the new owners need to get a list of all of our NTFS and share permissions.

Is there a way with Hyena or some other tool to dump both Share level and NFTS permissions for all shares on a system. to a nice report that I can hand the new owners(I am only intersted in the top level not any of the files or subdirs)

I know I can right click on a share and get the NTFS permissions in Hyena but I do not see a way to get a report for **ALL** shares.

    Thanks in advance!!!

To get the share permissions for all shares, you can right click on Shares under any computer and select "View all Access Rights". You can also export share permissions using Exporter Pro.

To get NTFS permissions for multiple directories, you need to select them in Hyena's right window. Then, right click, and select View NTFS Security. Make sure you do NOT select the option to scan subdirectories, etc.

Let us know how this works for you or if you have any other questions.
