Re: View Only Workstations in AD
The term "workstation" is not really fully understood by Windows, so there isn't a very good (and fast) way of making a list of them. Active Directory also does not keep information that can be used to tell a server from a workstation. If, however, you have placed a name, comment or other attribute text that can be used to tell a workstation from a server, then Hyena's AD queries can be altered to show this information.
The only realistic way to tell workstations from servers is to create a special AD OU for each and then simply move the computers into the relevant OU.
The 'Servers' object that you see is something that we forced into the AD object tree for users that were used to Hyena before Windows 2000/2003. The servers listing uses the Windows browse list, so it can be inaccurate. I suppose a workstation could anything that is not a server, but it would still rely on the browse list and that can bring its own set of problems.

Re: View Only Workstations in AD
Since the Servers container still appears in the AD tree, is there a reason the Workstations container can't appear?
It was fairly useful to separate them before we upgraded to AD.

This is available for Windows NT domains only, and is available by right-clicking on the Computers object.

View Only Workstations in AD
Hyena's Help states I can use the View Workstations Only menu option for NT Domains so servers are not included when Viewing Computers.
Since I already have a Servers Object, I am interested in setting this for my AD Domain Computers tree, but don't seem to see the option anywhere in Hyena v6.0c.Tags: None
