I'm using Hyena 5.7 on a W2K WS running on an NT domain. Most of the W2K WS are greyed out. Why?

    Re: greyed-out

Hyena compares the list of computers returned by the domain with the Windows Browse List. If a computer is missing from this list it is assumed to be offline and gets a gray icon. Otherwise it will get a blue one.

seems that all DHCP enabled workstations (NT and W2K) are not showing up in the browse list...?

For some reason you aren't getting a browse list, or are getting an incomplete one. The first place to start would be to make sure your Computer Browser service is still running. If it is, then something on your network has potentially changed.

How can you tell if the computer browser list is turn on? What kind of changes on the network will affect this?

            thx

In Hyena right-click on your computer and choose Services, then find Computer Browser and make sure it is running.

                    Re: greyed-out

Keep in mind first that the icons are just to give you a visual idea of whether or not a computer is online. Is it not an instant indication of major problems, but rather that you aren't getting a complete browse list back from your network, probably the domain controller itself.

This could be by design as in limiting broadcasts, or certain protocols, etc.

You can determine if the problem is a configuration issue on your computer or something on the network by simply installing and/or running Hyena on another computer on your network.

By your posts I assume you used to see a mix of blue and gray icons, so something has changed either on your computer or elsewhere.
