  • Export Global Groups with Users automaticly with a macro

    Hi,
A while ago I exported al the Global groups and the users in a group on our domain to a database. I did this manualy, so it took a long time. This is wat i did:

    1- expand the Global Groups
2- dubbelclick on the first group of the list
3- go to the "tools" menu and click on "Generate Report"
    4- click ok
5- let Hyena do the work and close Access afterwards.
6- back to step 2 and do that 208 times (we have 208 globalgroups)

But ofcource the groups change after a while so I need a way to keep them updated without repeting the above proces everytime. Is there a way to make a macro of it? We don't know how...

    Thx

There's no way to automate this, but here are a few options:

You can use the Export Members function under File->Export->Members. This creates a delimited text file that you can open with Excel or import into an Access database.

If you are in a Windows 2000/2003 Domain, you can double-click on the Global Groups object to display your 208 groups in the right window. In the right window select the groups, then right-click and choose View Group Members. Once that displays you can run the report to dump to Access.

where can ik find that? In the 'file' menu there are only 4 options:
      -Add domain
      -Manager Object View
      -Print
      -Exit

where are still in a NT 4 domain so the second option isn't an option

      [edit]
hmm wierd... in version 5.2 there IS a option called 'export' in the file menu but in the 5.7c version there isn't ?

Sorry, I should have added in that in 5.7 we moved that option to Tools->Run Exporter.
