  • Wakeup on lan

I got an issue. We got a great deal from Dell computer Co for purchase of computers systems GX-260/GX-270..So we thought. However there is an issue we could not figure out. The computer is an energy saver and goes on standby...As an Administrator you can make the changes to disable standby mode however in each user profile ir doesn't allow for the changes to be made. Therefore we have searched for registry changes but not able to find any. Therefore I would like to know how to install the wake up on lan... How do I do this.

You can't install WOL. You will need to go in the BIOS and set the machine to WOL. Then you need to get ahold of the WOL.exe. I use a batch file that has a single line for every mac address. Then the batch file and WOL.exe reside in the same folder. Run the batch file which has the command "wol mac-address", there is one for each computer.
Just remember you can not run a WOL across routers.

Just search google for 'WOL' or 'WOL.EXE' and get anyone that you feel comfortable with. They should all be free, but I imagine there are some out there that are not free

thanks -- is there a 'dell provided' or 'dell certified' one? or just pot luck?

          cheers

Try searching Dell's site, but I seem to recall that AMD had one on their website.

I assume that you know that Hyena is WOL-enabled. You just right click on a computer and select the Wakeup function.
