I would like to utilize the new WOL intergration and I need to populate the dat file with the information. Am I going about this wrong or should Hyena be smart enough to pick this up already? Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Export a file with computer names with MAC Address
I'll try to add this to a future Exporter feature, but this information must be gathered up before its needed. Hyena can't get it on the fly because the computer is turned off...Kevin Stanush

There is an example in the help file. Basically it will be a computer name from your domain and then the MAC address. i.e.
3XYZ 00-08-B3-50-70-C5

Re: Export a file with computer names with MAC Address
Heres an example of a computer I have in my dat file:
Computer1 00:08:02:C0:54:5B
When I right click on this in Hyena then select sedn wake up request and use all default settings. I get an error unable to find host in wol configuration file??? I know the file si there because when I click edit it opens it. Im thinking I have the layout of the file wrong?

Re: Export a file with computer names with MAC Address
This error means that Hyena could not find the host name in the file; its finding the file OK.
Verify that the host name (computer1) matches the path (not name) of the computer that you have selected. If you entered it manually by IP, then the host name needs to be the IP address. Essentially, when you right click on a computer in Hyena and select the wake up function, Hyena needs to scan the WOL file for the computer that you have selected, but it uses the PATH (not name) to find the match.
And, make sure that you have a TAB between the name and the card address.
Let us know what you find. ThanksKevin Stanush

Re: Export a file with computer names with MAC Address
OK maybe I am doing something stupid, but it still wont work. I have removed all other entries from the wol file this pc is the only entry I have. The name matches the path, still didnt work, tried the IP address, still couldnt find it. Tried a full domain name, still couldnt find it.
How can I enter the IP manually?
Definently have a tab.
Thanks

Re: Export a file with computer names with MAC Address
When you get the error message, the name that Hyena is trying to find in the WOL configuration file is in the error message. So if the error is "Unable to find host 'tr5443' in WOL Configuration File, then the entry in the file (the first field) should be tr5443.
If you want, email me your WOL configuration file to [email protected]; I'll stay around a bit.Kevin Stanush

I beleive you can use ARP to get IP addresses and MAC addresses. There is a program (free) from the makers of RAdmin, their IP scanner tool, that actually has WOL enabled in it. It's their IP scanner tool. Have a look, maybe you can get some ideas from it on how to automate getting the MAC address: http://www.radmin.com/download/

Re: Export a file with computer names with MAC Address
What version are you using ? Look under Help->About. If you don't have v5.7 'C', get the update from http://www.systemtools.com/hyena/download_frame.htmKevin Stanush
