  • Object Viewer

I have imported some systems into Object Viewer. Now it takes about 2 hours to open object viewer. Is this data stored in a file or in the registry. In the old version of hyena it was the qstation.dat file, but there isn't one for version 5.0. How can I delete the data in the object viewer, so it will open faster.

This data is stored in a file called ad_objects.dat. Search your drive for that file and you should be able to clean it up.

I opened that file in notepad, and it only has two lines in it.

      1 23 1 %computername% Local Workstation

      2 46 1 Enterprise
But I have at least a thousand systems in my object viewer.

I don't know if it matters, but I imported the systems from a qstation.dat file, so I am not sure if it stores those someplace differrent from systems manually entered into the object viewer.

Make sure there are no other copies on your computer.

Also, go to Tools->Settings->General and see if you have an entry in the box: Path to Object Manager and other shared configuration files.

            Re: Object Viewer

I have searched all of my drives for a ad_objects.dat file, and there is only one. I also checked the general tab and there was nothing in the Path to object manager box. Strange thing about it is I started having this problem yesterday so I uninstalled Hyena. Then I reinstalled Hyena to a new folder. And I didn't reimport. But as soon as I opened up hyena it showed the systems that I imported in the previous installation.

              Re: Object Viewer

figured it out. The normal search doesn't look at hidden files or folders. I am running hyena with runas under an administrative account, so the application data folder under that profile and the ad_objects.dat file were hidden from my search. Thanks for the help.
