  • NTLM v.2 reject LM and LTLM and Hyena

    I may be missing somthing, but I have set the logon security to only accept NTLM v.2 and reject NTLM and LM security. This should only affect ME 98 and 95 logon attempts. What I think I'm seeing is that Hyena can't gain access to the servers with this setting.

    How are you trying to access these computers from Hyena, and what errors are you getting?

      I'm using the "Logon As" using a valid admin / password combo and then dbl click on the services or users or... and get "Unable to access service information, or Unable to retrieve user list or...

        This function creates an IPC$ connection to the remote computer, and Windows will use those credentials for authentication.

        It appears that the NTLM change you made disables or blocks these types of connections.

        The only option that should work would be to create a duplicate account on the remote computer/domain, or login with an account that has permission in the remote domain.

          Ok,
          So if I read you right, either LM or the NTLM security uses IPC$ and by rejecting these, I closed or severly limited access to IPC$

          Correct!?

            That's correct, and that is what the Logon As function uses.
