  • How can I copy shares to another system

I need to copy over 2000 shared directories from one server to another and then back again after we repartition some drives. I'm going to use robocopy to copy the files and directories but I still need to create the shares again. Will Hyena allow me to export and then import them back in again?

You can use Hyena to copy the shares from one computer to another. To do this you would expand the computer in Hyena's left window, then double-click on Shares to display them in the right window.

Select the shares you want to copy, then right-click and choose Copy Shares To. Fill in the information and click OK to have Hyena copy the shares.

Thanks for the help. I worked with what you mentioned and it all went as expected - thanks. If we need to then copy the actual files, would we do that after copying the shares or before?

I don't believe it matters one way or the other. Hyena will use the directory if it exists, or create a new one if not.
