  • Launching Queries on objects

    Hello,

I don't seem to find-out how to use those queries you can make with the Object Manager in Hyena. I should be with the Find function on the object ...but who can you apply the query you made or the standard-ones allready defined in Hyena? Can you give me some more information

    Tx!!

    Kind regards,
    Guy

To access queries you right-click on the object and choose Tabular Views or Listing Views.

Also, make sure you've converted your domain type to Windows 2000 Domain in Object Manager under File->Manage Object View.

        I also thought that but...
I DON'T see those queries there only this:
        Listing Views > Container/OU (Summary)
        > Container/OU (All)
        Tabular Views > Container/OU (Summary)

And that's all, nothing more! Strange?

        I DID!

The query choices change based on the object you select. For example if you are looking to run one of the Users queries you would right-click on Users and choose Tabular Views and you will see the User queries.

!!!OK, That's the problem, But I don't want to use the default "All Users" icon, on our "site" we can only manage a particular OU with it's usergroup - which is a subset of 'all users' . So, can I use the same Tabular Views & Queries on other objects?

            Tx!

              Re: Launching Queries on objects

You can only create queries for objects that appear in the dropdown combo box at the top of the Object Manager's "Queries" dialog. This list includes domains, servers, printers, etc. I assume that you want to place a single OU into your display and work that that directly, unfortunately, we currently don't support adding a single OU or container into Hyena's interface directly. We are working on adding this to a future release.

Queries control only what directory attributes (columns) get displayed. If you want to do a filter/find, you can right click on any OU or the main OUs object and select Find, which displays Microsoft's standard AD Find dialog. Right now, to get to your assigned OU in Hyena, you have to go through the OUs container. If you would like to see different columns of information when you look at your assigned OU, modify or create a different query for the "Container/OU" object.

But, I think what you want to do is to have a query that just lists user or group objects in a specific OU...Hyena can't do that at present. You can, however, sort the right window on the object type and filter it on that after the fact (use either the Filter toolbar button of Find/Filter).

Let us know if we can be of more help. We hope to improve this functionality in the future.

OK, Tx for the info, indeed I would like to take the shortcut to my OU...I'll have to wait for future versions... . I also had another question on exporting data to another db than HyenaRpt.mdb or automating this without the exporter(which also works on the complete domain!) But I posted this at another forum...bye
