  • Exchange 5.5 Properties Problem

    Hello,

    We are currently have Active Directory with Exchange 5.5. I dont have a choice in that by the way.

    My problem is that I can view exchange properties of some user accounts but not all. I would say about 50%. It says it cannot find a mailbox for the user. However the mailbox does exist in exchange admin. I can create new mailboxes fine and it sees the properties for it.

    We are also using Enable User Manager Extensions for Exchange Integration.

    Any ideas?

      When I click the mailbox properties it says Could not find Mailbox 'xxxxxx' on server 'XXXXXX'. Do you want to try to find the mailbox on another server?

      x=mailbox name
      X=server name

      Another thing I noticed is when I create a new user it does not prompt me automatically to create the exchange mailbox. I have to rightclick the user to add a mailbox. Not sure if that is related. And I do have the checkbox checked Always create an Exchange mailbox when creating Windows NT accounts.

        Do you have multiple Exchange Servers by chance? At the top of Hyena you should see an Exchange menu. This is not under Settings, but at the top. When you look at that, see if you are specifying the appropriate server, and if the settings are set to create mailboxes when creating users.

          That is the Exchange menu I was referring to. The default microsoft exchange server is set to the correct server and the check box is checked. We do have multiple exchange servers but we only use one. (Not my setup unfortunately.) If I right click a user account and create a mailbox it fills in the correct exchange server name and all the information. I dont get an error when I create a user account it just doesnt even attempt to make an exchange mailbox.

          I still dont see a reason as to why it see's some users exchange properties and not others.

            Unfortunately that interface is fairly canned, and we have little control over it. You may need to verify what User Manager for Domains does, as they use the same interface for accessing 5.5. It could be an
            incompatibility with the version of Windows that you are using with this particular Exchange interface, but we would have no way of testing this.
