  • Echange User Manager Extension Error

I am in the process of integrating Nyena with our Exchange environment using the user manager extensions. When I open Hyena and try to do anything with exchange such as viewing a users exchange properties I get the following error:

    Microsoft Exchange User Manager Extension
An unexpected, unknown error has occured
MAPI or an unspecified service provider
    ID no:8004010f-0000-00000000

If I click on okay and try the same process again - It works like a charm and I have everything coming up. If I exit Hyena and come back in again - Same problem. Exit the error and all works as long as Hyena remains open?

I am running Exchange 5.5 and Hyena 4.2. Any ideas for me?

    Thank YOu

Re: Echange User Manager Extension Error

I copied over the MAPI32.DLL file to my ..\Exchange\bin directory.

      MAPI32.DLL details
Modified Date: Monday, September 11, 2000, 11:54:12 AM
      Size: 860 KB (881,424 bytes)

With that in place I get an even wors problem:
Hyena has generated errors and will be closed by windows
You will need to restart the program.
An error log is being generated.

At that point Hyena closes and I cannot do anything with Exchange in Hyena until I remove the MAPI32.DLL file at which point I am back to my first problem.

        Try these items:

        - Make sure you reboot your computer after copying this file around.
        - If you are using Windows NT, see if User Manager for Domains has the same problem on your computer...it should as Hyena is using the same interface
        - Make sure that you don't have other copies of this .dll file elsewhere on your computer or remote mapped drives.

Re: Echange User Manager Extension Error

Also, I found this on dejanews.com:

          "Hey, problem solved.
In case others run into the same problem - here is the solution:
It seams that when you install Outlook 2000 the original mapi32.dll gets
overwritten with a new version. The solution to the problem is to copy the
original mapi32.dll (which has been renamed to mapi32x.dll and is to be
found in the winnt\system32 folder) to the c:\exchsrv\bin folder..."

See if you can find the original file (mapi32x.dll) and restore it to the Exchange server\bin directory.
