Can you add an IP range to scan

In my LAN we have several visotors from outside, they are not on the same domain, and there are too many various domain names. is there any way I can add a range of IP addresses from our DHCP server?

I'm not quite sure I understand what exactly you are trying to do. Can you give more details?

Sure...in my building we have 300 people 200 on the actual domain "DomainA", and we could have 100 people from other offices in the bulding using systems from "DomainB-Z" I still need hyena to tell me if they have certain MS patches on them, but I am unable to figure out how to add systems by IP Address, and I couldn't very well scan the entire domain of our guests.

Unfortunately there is no way to scan or enter an IP range. If you can generate your own list of IPs that you want checked, you should be able to import this into Exporter Pro or Hyena and just have it run against those IPs. You would get failures on those that don't exist, and data from those that do.

That would work for me. how would I import it into Hyena?

I did try to import a "qstation.dat" file which had all of the live adfdresses, but then I was unable to select a object type, becuase of the dis similar domains, i did however add them as a workstation, but that only created 300 objects that would have to be scanned individually.
Suggestions?

Create an object Grouping in File->Manage Object View. You call it whatever you want. Move it to just above your list of 300. Then select the 300 computers using the Shift-click, then click the button labeled Right.

This will physically indent them on the screen above. Click OK to save this and you should have the newly created object grouping with the computers in it. If you double-click on that it will display the computers in Hyena's right window.

That worked great, however, now I am unable to export the hot fixes on all of these systems, hyena is telling me I have to select a domain name, OU...ETC

You're probably going to need the beta version for that as it allows quite a few more objects types to be exported this way. If you want to try it you can send a blank email to [email protected]

If your goal is to just scan a range of subnets to look for missing patches (and not Hyena integration) you can install the MBSA 1.2 from microsoft. It's GUI allows you to add subnets and it will provide a very detailed report..
